Suspect busted with loot hours after burglary

Hours after he allegedly broke into a Hydronie, East Bank Essequibo (EBE) house and carted off with a quantity of valuables, Police in Region Three arrested an unemployed man and recovered the stolen items.

Police Headquarters reported that the break and enter and larceny occurred between 21:00 hrs Tuesday and 06:00 hrs Wednesday.

According to the Police, the 28-year-old suspect of Parika Facade, EBE allegedly broke into the lower flat of a woman’s house which is used for storage, and stole a quantity of clothing worth $25,000, electric tools, and one engine valued at $150,000.

The victim reportedly told the Police that she secured the lower flat of her home at around 21:00 hrs Tuesday and retired to bed. The woman resides in the upper flat of the structure.

Upon making checks on Wednesday morning, she discovered the items were missing. Further checks revealed that a window on the lower flat of the building was open.

The Police were summoned and the suspect was contacted at Bushy Park, Parika, EBE.

He had a white bag in his possession, which was searched and the missing items were recovered. The suspect was escorted to Parika Police Station, where the items were lodged.

Police said he later admitted to committing the offence. He was placed into custody and is likely to be charged soon.
