NDC chairwoman arrested for removing elections material

Police have arrested the Chairwoman of the Lancaster/Hogstye Neighbourhood Democratic (NDC) following a report that flags placed by the People’s Progressive Party/Civic were being removed.

According to the police, on Sunday at about 17:20 hrs, they received a report that flags placed on utility poles along the Manchester public road, East Berbice, Corentyne by the PPP/C were being removed by the NDC Chairwoman Sheron Smith and others.

The News Room was informed that the police were summoned and Smith, of Alness Village, was arrested for unlawfully removing electoral campaign materials.
