Karasabai girls’ hostel gutted by fire; no injuries reported

Fire ravaging the Karasabai Hostel

The St. Angela’s girls’ hostel in Karasabai, Region Nine (Upper Takutu- Upper Essequibo) was completely destroyed after an early Thursday morning fire.

Importantly, no one has been injured. The hostel housed girls from several outlying villages.

The News Room understands that the fire started at around 03:00 hrs.

President Dr. Irfaan Ali confirmed to the News Room that a high-level team is travelling to the southern region to provide support to the persons affected.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are also being investigated.

Several days ago, the female dormitory of the Mahdia Secondary School was gutted by fire. A total of 20 children, 19 girls and one boy, died after that fire.

  1. Oh, what a tragedy. As if the Mahdia fire is not horrific enough. When will the fires end. Luckily, no lives have been lost. I do hope that this fire is the end of all fires targeting schools.

  2. An other fire and another dormitory /hostel ,this is very interesting ,more so to determine the cause nevertheless that has to be determined by the the experts.
    i hope the authorities get to the bottom of this very soon to prevent such problems in the future .
