Two men are dead and several others injured after the truck they were traveling in allegedly toppled along the Fourteen Miles, Issano Trail in Region Seven.

Dead are Osborn Fredricks, 26, and Collis Fredricks, 31, both gold miners of Lower Pomeroon.

Injured are 24-year-old Ryan Herand of Lima Sands Essequibo, Kelron Jones, 26; Joseph Sahoye, 53, of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo; Shawn Pedro, 38, of Four Miles, Potaro Road, Bartica, Dexter Burton, 19, a gold miner and a 41-year-old man of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara.

They were seated in the tray of motor lorry, GVV 7484 when the accident occurred around 08:30hrs Friday.

The truck was driven by 63-year-old Allen Wilson of 14 Miles Issano.

Police Headquarters reported that the truck was proceeding north along the trail and as it was ascending a hill, the driver lost control, causing the truck to turn turtle.

As a result, Police said the occupants fell onto the trail surface.

    Osborne and Collis were pinned.

They were all picked up and taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where the injured men were seen and treated for minor lacerations about their bodies.

Osborne and Collis were pronounced dead.

The driver of the truck is presently in Police custody assisting with the investigation.
