Virjanand Narain, a Surinamese national was arrested on Saturday after he was allegedly found with a quantity of ecstasy and hashish commonly known as ‘hash’.
Hash is a drug made by compressing and processing parts of the cannabis plant.
The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) in a press statement said Narain was intercepted during an operation at Eliza Mary, Corriverton, Berbice.
He was escorted to CANU Headquarters, in Berbice where the suspected narcotics was weighed and tested.
It amounted to 69 grammes of ecstacy and 101 grammes of hashish.
Investigations are ongoing.
