An 18-year-old labourer died on Saturday night after he was allegedly involved in a fight with one of his roommates at Craig, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Henry Williams of Buzz Bee Dam, Craig, EBD.
The incident occurred around 23:00hrs on June 3 on a dam close to the apartment which Williams and the suspect shared with four other persons.
Police Headquarters said efforts are being made to locate the suspect who fled the scene after telling a neighbour that Williams took his own life.
Enquiries, the Police said, revealed that around 19:00hrs, a fight broke out between Williams and the suspect over a woman.
The fight continued on a dam in the area.
“A neighbour told police that as he was bathing the suspect came to him and reported that the deceased hanged himself,” Police said.
Upon checking, the Police added that Williams was discovered lying motionless between some abandoned chicken pens.
An alarm was raised after which the suspect made good his escape in the bushes nearby.
Williams’ body bore several bruises around his neck.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
