Black Bush Polder man dies days after hit by truck

A Black Bush Polder, East Berbice-Corentyne man has succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident last weekend. The News Room was informed that the man died at the Georgetown Public Hospital on Thursday.

The dead man has been identified as Chandra Allie.

Based on information provided by the Police, the accident involved Allie and his motorcycle,  motor lorry GZZ 7836 driven by Davendra Singh and motor car PHH 4070 driven by Heeralall Singh.

Singh claimed that he was proceeding west along Clifton public road when Allie rode across the road from south to north into his path. As a result, the front right side of the lorry struck the right side of the motorcycle which crashed into the motor car that was in a stationary position.

Allie was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the Port Mourant Hospital and then transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital. He underwent emergency surgery and was moved to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed.

The lorry driver was subsequently arrested and after 72 hours, was placed on station bail. He is expected to be charged.
