The Grenada Football Association (GFA) has named the 23-man squad to face Guyana’s Golden Jaguars in the Gold Cup preliminary match on June 17 from 21:00h at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

However, the Guyana Football Federation is still to announce its squad, but the team’s management has indicated they will name their final squad in the coming days.

Jaguars have a bloated training squad in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and are expected to name the squad before travelling to Fort Lauderdale on June 15.

The ‘Spice Boys’ qualified for the preliminaries after they finished winless against the United States of America and El Salvador in Group D of League A.

On the other hand, the Golden Jaguars finished second to Haiti in Group B of League B.

Grenada enters this contest coming off a 1-7 defeat at home by the United States, while Guyana had a scoreless draw against Montserrat to end their Nations League campaign.

The Spice Boys defeated Golden Jaguars 1-0 when they last clashed in 2017 at the Grenada National Stadium in an International Friendly, while Guyana hosted and won 2-0 in 2015.

According to FIFA rankings, Grenada is four places behind Guyana, which is at 170, while in CONCACAF rankings, as of May 31, they are at 25 compared to Guyana at 18.

In mid-May, the GFA announced Terry Connor as the new Head Coach of the Senior Men’s Team.

Connor has 25 years of senior Coaching and Management experience in the Premier League, English Football League, the Republic of Ireland, and internationally in Cyprus.

One of Connor’s greatest achievements is being Head Coach and Manager for Wolverhampton Wanderers and securing promotion from Championship to the English Premier League.

He has coached other teams, including Blackpool FC, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town, and Bristol City.
