Waramuri into both Boys and Girls finals; PC and Bartica other finalists

Footballers of Waramuri Top have advanced to both the Boys and Girls finals of the ExxonMobil Under-14 football tournament, following the latest round of play on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

In Saturday’s finals at the same venue, Waramuri Top will face President’s College in the female category, while on the male side they will take on Bartica.

In the female semi-final, Waramuri Top defeated Bartica 3-1, thanks to a double from Jada La Cruz (fourth and sixth minutes) and a solitary strike from Mnemosyne Peters in the 32nd minute.

President’s College secured their place in the championship contest on the back of a double from Kimona Edwards (first and 15th minutes) in their 2-0 success over Tucville.

In the male semi-finals, both games had to be decided by penalties.

Bartica prevailed 4-3 on kicks against Bush Lot after they played to goalless draw, while Waramuri Top got the better of New Central from the spot.

They had played to a 1-1 stalemate with Bradley Williams (22nd) giving Waramuri the advantage, before Trevor Gordon (36th) equalised for New Central.
