Who are the observers for Local Gov’t elections?

The Guyana Elections Commission has accredited a total of 236 observers representing 10 organisations for today’s Local Government elections.

Here is a breakdown of the organisations accredited with the number of observers approved to observe the process:

1. The Canadian High Commission – 8 observers
2. The Embassy of the United States of America – 42 observers
3. The British High Commission – 3 observers
4. The delegation of the European Union to Guyana – 5 observers
5. The International Foundation for Electoral Systems – 8 observers
6. The American Chamber of Commerce (Guyana) – 22 observers
7. The Private Sector Commission – 38 observers
8. The Guyana Council of Organisations for Persons with Disabilities – 42 observers
9. The Ethnic Relations Commission – 61 observers
10. The Guyana Public Service Union – 7 observers.
