Fisherman found dead moments after argument with son


A Berbice fisherman was Monday night found dead following a heated argument with his son at Letterkenny Village, Corentyne, Berbice.

Dead is Romesh Peters, 57, also of Letterkenny Village. His son was identified as Vijai Peters, 29, a labourer of the said address.

Police said that the incident took place at approximately 19:30 hrs.

It is alleged that the man and his son were engaged in an argument on the street.

Neighbours told police that shortly after they heard a noise and when checks were made they saw the fisherman lying on his back with injuries to his head.

A wooden 2×4 post that was propping up a shed attached to the house was also found near the fisherman’s body.

He was picked up and taken to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
