Employee, two others remanded for armed robbery at Eureka Lab

Ruebon Hopkinson, 30, of Farm East Bank Demerara, Kacey John, 36, of Eccles East Bank Demerara and Cephyl Drepaul, 36, of East La Penitence, Georgetown were Tuesday remanded to prison for robbery under arms.

The trio appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel-Isaacs Marcus to answer to the charges.

The particulars of this offense state that on June 06, at Eureka Lab, Thomas Street, Georgetown, while being in the company of others and armed with a gun they robbed Tavin Danny and Stephan Dickson of GYD$4 million, US$3,000, two bottles of cologne valued at $46,000 and one pressure testing instrument valued at $60,000.

Hopkinson was employed at Eureka Laboratory.

Dickson and Denny are both employed as security guards at Eureka Laboratory.

It is alleged that Hopkinson planned the execution of the robbery.

The charge was jointly read to Hopkinson, John and Drepaul to which they denied.

Police Prosecutor Lacon objected to bail on the grounds that a dangerous weapon was used.

Bail was refused and the defendants were remanded to prison.

The matter is adjourned to  July 13, 2023.
