Levi Vanhogen, who is accused of assaulting his girlfriend, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly where he was remanded to prison.
The court heard that on June 13, 2023, Vanhogen unlawfully and maliciously assaulted Tanisha Smith to cause her actual bodily harm. He pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor told the court that the duo shared a relationship for the past eight months and at around 22:15 hrs on the day in question, the woman was at home rubbing her son’s back when Vanhogen cuffed her twice to the face.
It is alleged that the woman ran into her neighbour’s yard for safety. The matter was reported to the Police and Vanhogen was arrested.
The Prosecutor objected to bail and the accused was remanded to prison until June 30, 2023.
