Venezuelan man allegedly stabbed to death by son in argument over food

A Venezuelan national is now dead after he was allegedly stabbed to death by his son during an argument over food at their Sophia, Georgetown home on Sunday.

Dead is Eyone Hernandez, 47, of Lot 509 ‘C’ Field Sophia.

Police Headquarters confirmed that the 20-year-old suspect, who suffers from a mental illness, was arrested shortly after the stabbing. The murder weapon, a knife, was also recovered in his possession.

The incident occurred around 23:30hrs.

According to a Police report, enquiries revealed that the suspect and Hernandez had an argument over food when the suspect armed himself with a knife and allegedly dealt Hernandez a stab to the back of his left thigh.

An alarm was raised by Hernandez wife.

Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene and Hernandez was pronounced dead.

His body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Investigations continue.
