Inmate escapes Lusignan Prison


Law enforcement officials have launched a search for convicted prisoner Ronaldo Parris, 23, who scaled the fence and escaped from the Lusignan Prison, East Coast Demerara on Tuesday.

The News Room understands that the escape occurred around 02:00hrs.

At the time, Parris was housed in Unit 4 of the facility with a group of patients with mental illnesses.

According to information reaching the News Room, Parris jumped onto a sink to escape from the unit.

He then escaped the compound by scaling the eastern fence.

Parris was serving sentences for two counts of armed robbery.
