Three remanded for drug trafficking, break and enter

Three men were on Monday charged and remanded to prison for drug trafficking and break and enter and larceny when they appeared at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court on Monday. The three men all appeared before Principal Magistrate Sunil Scarce.

Ken Benjamin, 53, of Hopkinson Street, Republic Park, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was charged with trafficking 51, 650 grams of marijuana.

He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison. This matter was adjourned until August 14, 2023 for statements.

John Hodge, 24, of Prospect, EBD pleaded guilty after he was charged for trafficking 161.2 grams of marijuana on June 15.

He was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment and fined GYD$30,000.

Twenty-three-year-old Romel Singh of Republic Park, EBD was charged for stealing a quantity of WD 40 spray valued $547,430 from the storage bond of Vitality Supplies Inc. located at Peter’s Hall, EBD.

He was also charged with Break and Enter and Larceny L-R: Ken Benjamin, Romel Singh and John Hodge

committed on the Peter’s Hall Seventh Day Adventist Church where a television set valued $120,000 and three speakers valued $180,000 were stolen.

He pleaded guilty to the offences and was remanded to prison.
