Father, two children die in Drysdale St. fire

A man and two of his young children died Friday morning after they were reportedly trapped in their Drysdale Street, Georgetown apartment during a fire.

Dead are Michael Richards and his two children, six-year-old Somaya Richards and four-year-old Supreme Richards.

Reports are that the fire started at around 06:45 hrs at Lot 8 Drysdale Street, Charlestown.

The News Room understands that upon receiving the call, the Guyana Fire Service learned that persons were trapped in the building. However, despite efforts, Richards and his children perished.

It is unclear at this time what might have caused the fire. Richards and his children lived in the lower flat of the house.
