82 murders recorded in first half of 2023
As of June 29, 2023, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has recorded a total of 82 murders, the majority of which were domestic related.
Last year, between January 1 and June 29, 60 murders were recorded; this means that there is an increase of 22 more murders this year.
The statistics forms part of a breakdown of murders recorded for the year so far which was provided by the Police Force.
According to the Police, 33 of the 82 murders were domestic violence related; another 32 falls under the category of disorderly murders.
It was noted that six persons were murdered during the course of robberies.
There were two execution-style killings.
And the circumstances surrounding the remaining nine murders are yet to be determined.
