Police are probing a report of rape allegedly committed on a 20-year-old woman on Friday at Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The suspect is on the run and efforts are being made to locate him, Police Headquarters reported on Saturday.
According to the Police report, the victim who hails from Upper Cuyuni River is familiar with the suspect.
The victim related that she was invited by the suspect to have drinks at Sixth Avenue Beach, Bartica, and she accepted.
While there, Police said it started to rain and so, they sought shelter in the suspect’s car. It was there that the crime allegedly occurred.
The victim told Police that the suspect forcefully took off her clothes without her consent and engaged in unprotected sex with her against her will for about four minutes.
According to the Police, the suspect then took the victim home where she related the ordeal to a friend. The friend advised her to file a complaint with the Police.
