Anna Regina, Charity secure semi-final spots in Digicel Secondary Schools football

In an action-packed day of football, Anna Regina Secondary and Charity Secondary emerged victorious in their respective matches, securing spots in the highly anticipated semi-finals. The matches took place at the Tapakuma Sports Club Ground, showcasing the talent and determination of the participating teams.

The first match of the scheduled double-header featured Wakapoa Secondary against Anna Regina Secondary. From the opening whistle, both teams demonstrated their desire to clinch victory. In the 12th minute, Lolin Charles of Anna Regina Secondary broke the deadlock with a well-taken goal, giving his team an early advantage. However, Wakapoa Secondary responded swiftly as Garry Thomas found the back of the net 25 minutes later to level the score.

The game took an exciting turn just a minute after Wakapoa’s equalizer when Adrian Marks of Anna Regina Secondary unleashed a remarkable strike, putting his team back in the lead. Anna Regina Secondary’s attacking prowess continued to shine as Delion Fredericks extended their lead with another goal at the 40th minute mark. With a comfortable margin, Wayne Norton sealed the victory for Anna Regina Secondary with a goal in the 65th minute. The final score stood at 4-1 in favor of Anna Regina Secondary, securing their place in the semi-finals.

In the afternoon clash, defending champions Charity Secondary faced off against 8th of May Secondary in a thrilling encounter. The match showcased the determination of both teams to progress further in the competition.

Charity Secondary struck first in the 10th minute when Navin Williams found the back of the net, giving the defending champions an early lead. However, 8th of May Secondary swiftly responded with Deangalo Davidson equalizing from the penalty spot just five minutes later. The game remained tightly contested until the 25th minute when Leon Farrel headed home a goal, putting Eight of May in the lead.

The first half ended with a scoreline of 2-2, as Dwayne Williams of Charity Secondary restored parity with a goal in the 28th minute. As the second half commenced, Dumdra Sobers of Charity Secondary quickly regained the lead for his team, scoring in the 53rd minute. 8th of May Secondary, determined to stay in the game, equalized once again through Deangalo Davidson’s second penalty, which found the back of the net in the 48th minute.

Charity Secondary showcased their championship pedigree as Navin Williams scored a sensational goal in the 57th minute, reclaiming control of the match. Not content with just one goal, Nickloyd Marks of Charity Secondary netted a brace in the 68th minute, securing a 5-3 victory for the defending champions and confirming their place in the semi-finals.

With their respective triumphs, Anna Regina Secondary and Charity Secondary have paved their way into the semi-finals, where they will face each other and strive to claim a spot in the finals to win the coveted championship title. The upcoming matches promise to deliver more thrilling football action as the journey to glory continues for these talented teams.

Abram Zuil Secondary will take on Aurora Secondary in match one tomorrow, 4 July 2023, at 13:00hrs while Johanna Cecelia Secondary is scheduled to face Cotton field Secondary at 15:00hrs at the Tapakuma Sports Club Ground.
