Man drops rice bag with gun, ammo and flees police in Region 7

Three Police ranks were on mobile patrol duty Monday at Lime Tree Backdam, Cuyuni River (Region 7), when they observed a man with a Karibe rice bag in his hand with a metal object protruding from the bag.

The ranks became suspicious and attempted to confront the man.

When he saw the Police ranks approaching, the man dropped the rice bag and ran into nearby bushes.

The ranks gave chase but were unable to apprehend him, a statement from Police Headquarters noted.

Police took possession of the bag and found a single-barrel shotgun and one 12-gauge cartridge.

Investigations are in progress.
