Minibus driver, conductor nabbed with 1lb ganja
A 27-year-old minibus driver and his 30-year-old conductor from the Essequibo Coast were nabbed with just over a pound of marijuana on Monday.
Police Headquarters reported that officers intercepted a minibus (#BVV 9881) on the Charity Public Road.
A bag containing 512.5 grammes (or 1.1 pounds) of suspected marijuana was found under the conductor’s seat on the floor. The bag contained a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The driver and conductor were told of the offence committed and cautioned. Then they were arrested and escorted to Charity Police Station along with the suspected narcotics.
The narcotics were subsequently weighed.
The driver and conductor are in Police custody as investigations continue.
