Security guards charged with illegal possession of firearm, ammunition

Two security guards were on Tuesday placed on $75,000 bail each after they were charged with possession of illegal firearm and ammunition at the Fantasy Casino at Giftland Mall.

Derwin Drakes called “Polo”, 27, of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown and Sherwyn Quincy Davis, 31, of East Ruimvedlt Housing Scheme, Georgetown appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court One.

The charges were read to them by acting Chief Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs-Marcus.

Both men were arrested on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges which were laid Contrary to Section 16 (2) (a) of the Firearms Act Chapter 16:05.

Drakes case was adjourned to July 20 when it will be called again at the Sparendaam Magistrate Court One for statements.

While Davis is scheduled to reappear in court on July 19.
