In an exciting match at the Tapakuma Sports Club Ground, Abram Zuil Secondary (AZSS) secured a spot in the Region Two semi-finals of the Digicel Schools Football tournament.

Their impressive performance against Aurora Secondary showcased their skills and determination, propelling them to a well-deserved victory.

With a clean sheet and a dominant display, AZSS demonstrated their potential as serious contenders in the tournament.

The anticipated clash between AZSS and Aurora Secondary began as the first match of a scheduled doubleheader on day two of the tournament.

Both teams exhibited strong determination and skill from the outset, vying for a place in the next round.

However, AZSS made the breakthrough in the 27th minute when Omar Kendall found the back of the net, capitalizing on an indirect free-kick taken by the captain, Emani Duncan. With this goal, AZSS took a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

The second half saw AZSS maintain their attacking momentum, and in the 48th minute, Lester Noel extended their lead with a well-taken goal. Just five minutes later, Omar Kendall netted his second goal of the game, firmly establishing AZSS’s dominance.

The AZSS management’s decision to introduce substitute player Traven Evans proved fruitful, as he quickly made an impact by scoring in the 60th minute, securing victory for his team.

Notably, AZSS became the only team in the district leg of the competition to keep a clean sheet so far, showcasing their defensive prowess.

In the second match scheduled for the day between Cotton Field Secondary (CFSS) and Johanna Cecelia Secondary (JC), the latter failed to field a team. As a result, CFSS was awarded a walkover victory, granting them a direct passage to the semi-finals.

With the semi-finals just around the corner, the competition is set to intensify at the Tapakuma Sports Club Ground.

The matches will occur later today, featuring Anna Regina Secondary facing off against Charity Secondary at 13:00hrs and Abram Zuil Secondary taking on Cotton Field Secondary at 15:00hrs.

Football enthusiasts can expect an exhilarating display of skill and determination as these teams battle for a coveted spot in the region’s final.
