Dead is Eone McGarrell, known as Joe, a mechanic of Cottage Mahaicony.

The man’s mother, Dehola Williams, told the News Room on Sunday that she wants justice because she believes her son died as a result of another driver’s drunk driving.

She explained that her son was heading to the Georgetown to meet his uncle when he met his demise at about 20:00hrs.

According to information gathered by the family, the driver of the car was heading in the opposite direction, allegedly driving fast and overtaking vehicles.

The driver was in the process of overtaking a vehicle when the car collided with McGarrell, the family said.

The driver then crashed into a utility post after the accident.

The family who visited the scene claimed that there were beer bottles in the car.

“We got a phone call and heard that he reach up in an accident and that he foot gone and he is bleeding away.

“Me and my husband and the rest of children ran out and went to the scene. When we reach a family friend already picked him up from there and took him to the hospital.  When we rush in the doctor and nurse told us to wait. My son was already dead but we weren’t told…a doctor said “mom we sorry, we lost him. When he came in he was already dead,” Williams said.

Williams, McGarrell’s father and four siblings went to the hospital.

She said she has a heart condition and due to the devastating news she fell ill.

She was given oxygen while at the hospital.

“All we want is justice for what happened,” Williams said.

She explained that the family is mourning and are relying on the police to conduct a thorough investigation.
