Man, 37, to spend two years in jail after nabbed with illegal gun & ammo
Vandell Skeete, a 37-year-old man of Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, was jailed for a total of four years after he was caught with an unlicensed gun and ammunition.
Skeete appeared before Magistrate Rhondell Weever at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
It was alleged that he had a pistol and 20 rounds of .40 ammunition in his possession on February 19 when he was stopped by Police Officers along Durban Street, Georgetown.
And Skeete did not have a firearm license.
He was later arrested and on Tuesday, the Magistrate sentenced him to two years imprisonment for the illegal possession of the firearm and two years for the ammunition possession. The two charges will run concurrently so Skeete will spend only two years in jail.
