After 34 years of ‘dedicated, distinctive’ service, Superintendent Denise Griffith retires

The Guyana Police Force on Wednesday bid farewell to a “dedicated, hardworking, and selfless woman”, Superintendent Denise Griffith, who proceeded on retirement leave.

She served her country and the Guyana Police Force with distinction for 34 years, a press release from the Guyana Police Force stated.

Her dedication has not gone unnoticed by the Force’s administration, as evidenced by the retirement ceremony that was held Wednesday at the Police Command Centre in her honour. Her colleagues described her as a “woman of great strength, a woman who encourages, and a great leader.”

During her tenure, Superintendent Griffith worked in various stations and departments within the Police Force, such as the East La Penitence and Alberttown Police Stations; she served as the Officer-in-Charge of the number 3 Sub Division, the Officer-in-Charge at Impact Base, Force Control.

She later went on to serve as the Administrative Officer at the Felix Austin Police College and then as Deputy Commander for Regional Division 4C.

Superintendent Griffith also spent time working as the Court Superintendent in 2020 and later the Commander for Regional Division Two.

She was then transferred and served as Commander for Regional Division 4B and currently holds the position of Director of the Police Force Command Centre.

Superintendent Griffith holds two degrees from the University of Guyana in Public Management and an LLB.

In brief remarks, Griffith credited her success to God, her family, and all the officers who have been instrumental in encouraging her when she wanted to give up.

Ranks from the Command Center presented her with a token of appreciation for her sterling contributions to the Force and for the encouragement and overall leadership during the time she was the Director.
