Devon Williams, a 31-year-old resident of Falls Top Village in Region One (Barima- Waini), is receiving much-needed medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was wounded with a bow and arrow during a spat on Wednesday night.

Williams’ sister, Dorona Williams told the News Room that her brother was injured by a man known as Bernard Dove.

Dove, the woman said, attacked her and her uncle without provocation at about 23:00 hrs Wednesday at Falls Top. As such, Devon intervened and attempted to chase the attacker away.

Moments later, she recalled, Dove armed himself with an arrow and bow and struck Devon; he fled the scene afterwards.

Devon sustained a deep wound across his abdomen, leaving several internal organs exposed. He was taken to the Port Kaituma Hospital for treatment and later transferred to the Georgetown Hospital.

Police Commander of Region One, Himnauth Sawh confirmed that the matter is being treated as a murder attempt and investigations are ongoing.

He, however, noted that Dove is a known aggressor and is suspected to have fled to hard-to-reach backdam areas of the region.

Nevertheless, Commander Sawh stressed that Police Officers are working alongside other stakeholders to apprehend him.
