$17M worth of ganja found at Crabwood Creek

Officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) found several packages of cannabis, amounting to 57.6 kilogrammes (or 127 pounds), in the vicinity of Sea Dam, Crabwood Creek, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) on Saturday.

A CANU release noted that this much cannabis has a street value of approximately $17 million.

The narcotics were taken to CANU’s Skeldon Office in Region Six were they were tested and weighed. No one has, however, been arrested.

Investigations are ongoing.

Last week, CANU released its mid-year report which detailed that about 1,471 pounds of various narcotics were seized between January and June this year. Seized cannabis accounted for 1,460.3 pounds of the total narcotics seized during that period.
