ECPFA Senior League: Fierce battle between title favourites ends in thrilling draw

The final game in Week Three of the Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association (ECPFA) Senior League delivered a clash between the title favourites, Charity FC and defending Champions Dartmouth Dominators FC.

The match, which ended 4-4, was filled with heart-stopping moments, remarkable goals and intense rivalry that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

Stephon ‘Antsman’ Clarke, who has been in scintillating form throughout the tournament, wasted no time in making his presence felt, netting the opening goal for Dartmouth Dominators FC just four minutes into the game.

The early goal served as a statement of intent from the defending champions.

However, Charity FC responded swiftly, showing their mettle as Carlos Rodrigues managed to level the scores in the 13th minute.

Lebron Fraser’s skillful play rewarded Charity with a goal in the 19th minute, granting them a slim lead over their formidable opponents.

The first half was packed with excitement, and just when it seemed like Charity would head into the break with an advantage, Stephon Clarke struck again for Dartmouth in the 36th minute, equalising the scores and setting the stage for a captivating second half.

The second period saw both teams fighting fiercely for control of the match.

Sheldon Pitt, the talisman for Charity FC, displayed his aerial prowess with a brilliantly placed header in the 52nd minute, propelling Charity back into the lead and sending their fans into jubilation.

Charity FC’s Kennard Joseph, in the 61st minute, managed to find the back of the net, scoring the fourth goal for the team and bringing the scores 4-2.

The game was a see-saw battle, and the outcome was far from certain.

As the clock ticked away, it was Dartmouth’s captain, Ridley Williams, who rose to the occasion and proved his leadership qualities.

In the 73rd minute, Williams powered a header past the opposition’s defense, securing a crucial goal that swung the momentum in favour of the defending champions.

On Sunday (July 30), all eyes will be on the clash between Queenstown United FC and the defending champions Dartmouth Dominators FC.
