A 15-year-old male was Wednesday arrested with a quantity of marijuana in his Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara community.
A statement from Police Headquarters noted that at about 17:30hrs, a Deputy Superintendent of Police and two Police ranks were on motor patrol near Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, when they saw the young man walking toward a bin.
The Police searched the 15-year-old and found three small zip-lock plastic bags in his hands. A further search was conducted in the bin, where the ranks found a black plastic bag containing 16 zip-lock bags containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The teenager was told of the offence committed, and he remained silent. He was arrested and later released in his parent’s care.
The three zip-lock bags were weighed and amounted to 10 grams. The 16 zip lock bags were further weighed and amounted to 35 grams.
Investigations are ongoing.
