Teenager drowns at Soesdyke Highway creek

Police are investigating the death of a 17-year-old customer service agent who allegedly drowned during an outing with his friends at the Chanta Creek, Soesdyke, Linden Highway.

The teenager has been identified as Myles Munroe, a resident of Mocha, East Bank Demerara.

Police Headquarters said Munroe and a group of friends went to the creek sometime between 13:00hrs to 16:15hrs on Saturday.

Whilst there, Munroe friends noticed that he was missing and could not be located.

An alarm was immediately raised and a search party was launched to locate him.

Munroe’s lifeless body was subsequently found under the water.

The Police were summoned and his body was examined. There were no visible marks of violence.

Munroe was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where he was pronounced dead.

His body is at the Memorial Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
