Driver arrested with 27lbs of ganja

A man who police identified only as Keenin Fraser was arrested in Region Ten on Thursday with 27 pounds of marijuana.

According to a statement from Police Headquarters, at about 14:15hrs, Police ranks were conducting roadblock exercises at Coomacka Mines Junction when they observed a black Note motor car with registration # PZZ 8168 driving towards the roadblock at a fast rate.

The ranks attempted to stop the car, but the driver continued to drive at a fast rate.

The ranks gave chase, and the vehicle careened off the trail, ended up on the parapet, and came to a halt on its side. The ranks hurriedly exited the police vehicle and proceeded to the car, where they observed a lone occupant/driver who identified himself as Keenin Fraser.

The ranks observed in the front passenger seat, next to Fraser, one bulky black garbage bag containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.

Fraser was arrested and escorted to the Mackenzie Police Station, where the suspected narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 27 lbs (equivalent to 12,247 grams at a street value of more than $11M).

Fraser was placed into custody pending further investigation and charges.
