Eight large parcels of marijuana were found on Wednesday by officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), hidden near a koker in Region Six.

A statement from CANU detailed that its officers conducted an operation in the vicinity of the koker, located at Palmyra village, Canje. East Berbice-Corentyne.

“A thorough search of the area revealed eight parcels of suspected cannabis hidden in a clump of bushes,” the statement added.

The parcels were retrieved and taken to CANU’s Skeldon Office, Corentyne Berbice, where it tested positive for cannabis, weighing about 134.9 lbs. (approximately 61.2 kg), with a street value of approximately $18.4 million.

No one was arrested but investigations are ongoing.
