Intoxicated teen allegedly stabs brother to death, confesses to neigbhour

Henry Sam Bowin, a 20-year-old Fisherman from Smith Creek, North West District was stabbed to death Saturday morning, allegedly by his 18-year-old brother.

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 08:45hrs at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara, where Bowin was residing temporarily.

Police said at about 09:00hrs, the younger brother went over to a neighbour’s yard with a knife in his hand, sat in front of the verandah and confessed that he just “bore up” his brother. He had what appeared to be blood on his chest.

The Police were called in and ranks found the teen sitting in the neighbour’s yard.

Ranks took possession of the knife he was arrested and escorted to the Beterverwagting Police Station, where he remains in custody.

Police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

EMT was summoned and Bowin was pronounced dead. His body was examined and what appeared to be a wound was seen on his throat. There was also a wound on his right hand.

The body was later taken to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and is awaiting a post-mortem.
