CANU officers make large cocaine bust, seize firearm at Timehri
Officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) arrested one person Sunday night following the interception of a large quantity of cocaine.
A firearm was also seized during the operation.
Head of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) James Singh confirmed that an investigation is ongoing into the discovery which was made at a cargo company.
The News Room understands that the CANU team intercepted a man with 26 kilos of cocaine (over 55 lbs) in a car at the cargo company. He had a firearm in his possession.
The company is located adjacent to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) at Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
Investigations are ongoing.
