Grove man dies after crashing brother’s car

A 30-year-old man died on Sunday after the car he was driving crashed into a culvert on the Little Diamond Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), in the vicinity of the new Diamond interlink road.

Dead is Ishmael Cort of North East Grove, EBD.

Police Headquarters, in a statement, noted that ranks are investigating the accident which occurred around 02:30hrs.

The car, PAD 8961, which Cort was driving belongs to his brother, Keyah Cort.

The dead man allegedly took the car from his brother’s house, without his permission.

According to the Police report, Keyah parked his car around 23:30hrs and retired to bed; hours after, he received a call informing him that his vehicle was involved in an accident.

It was then that Keyah checked for his vehicle and realized it was missing, Police said.

He immediately went to the scene where he saw the car which was extensively damaged on the road.

And upon enquiring, Police said Keyah learned that his brother had collided with a culvert.

The man was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition and taken to the Diamond Hospital.

He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
