Peacemaker stabbed to death at Honey Camp Backdam

A peacemaker was fatally stabbed on Friday at the Honey Camp mining area in Region Seven after he intervened in an argument between two men.

The dead man has been identified as Quincy Nelson, 38, of West Indian Housing Scheme, Bartica.

Reports reaching the News Room revealed that an argument erupted between two men at the mining camp.

The argument escalated and Nelson who was close by tried to calm the men, one of whom inflicted the fatal wound to his chest.

Nelson was rushed to the Issano Health Outpost where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect fled the scene and he is yet to be apprehended.

Nelson’s body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
