‘Lucky’ charged with armed robbery of salesman

Chief Magistrate (ag), Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus on Thursday remanded Patrick Goodluck, known as ‘Lucky’ to prison after he pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery underarms.

Goodluck is accused of robbing Dinesh Rabindranauth, a driver/salesman, of $130,000 cash and a Samsung cellphone valued at $40,000, on July 12, 2023, at Block ‘R’ North Sophia, Georgetown.

The court heard that the victim was in the area conducting business with a customer when he was attacked by the accused and another man who was armed with a gun.

It is alleged that Goodluck pointed the gun at the victim’s face and told him “not to move, pass all de money.”

It is further alleged that Goodluck hit the victim to his head resulting in injuries, after which he went to the bus and removed $110,000 from the glove compartment; the other suspect also removed $20,000 from the victim’s pockets along with the Samsung cellphone.

Goodluck was subsequently arrested on August 7 and was positively identified by the victim.

Police Prosecutor, Quincy Lacaon objected to bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the offence. Goodluck was remanded and is expected to make his next court appearance on September 14, 2023.
