Man who stole fridge, toilet bowl, other items to spend 3 years in jail

A man who broke into multiple homes, stealing from a fridge to a toilet bowl, will spend three years behind bars.

Forty-three-year-old Delano Kendell, of 19th Street Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was Monday placed before City Magistrate Rhondell Weever to answer to multiple charges of break and enter and larceny.

Police claimed that between June 17-25, 2023, Kendell broke and entered the Queenstown, Georgetown dwelling house of Vishnu Singh and stole one double-door fridge valued at $300,000, a kitchen faucet valued $30,000, a toilet bowl valued $70,000, six matching toilet sets valued $66,000, and a Delta faucet valued $80,000. The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.

It was also alleged that between July 8-9, 2023, Kendell broke and entered a house at Lamaha Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, and stole one angle grinder valued at $9,000, one welding plan valued at $38,000, one saw valued at $30,000, one jackhammer valued at $160,000, a drop cord valued at $120,000, one impact gun valued at $34,000, one screw gun valued at $40,000, one 4-feet level valued at $6,000 and one welding rod valued at $21,000. The items were the property of Edward Adams.

It was further claimed that on the same date, also at Lamaha Street, Alberttown Georgetown, the defendant stole one chop saw valued at $60,000, one angle grinder valued at $30,000, one level valued at $6,000 and one drill valued at $28,000, property of Ranjiff Patrick.

Kendell pleaded guilty to these charges.

Kendell was sentenced to serve 3 years imprisonment for the break-and-enter charges and two years imprisonment for each of the simple larceny charges. The sentences are to run concurrently.
