One dead, another injured in midday accident at Le Ressouvenir
The manager of a security firm died at noon on Monday after the vehicle he was driving collided with an electricity pole at Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara.
Dead is Michael Bascom, who was attached to the BK Security Firm.
According to reports, Bascom was driving a 4×4 pickup Hilux vehicle at about 12:30hrs along the Railway Embankment road and was speeding, heading in the direction of Georgetown.

An eyewitness said that the vehicle tried to overtake another vehicle but there was a Spacio vehicle parked at the side of the road. This caused the security guard to swerve and collided with a bridge before turning turtle and eventually colliding with an electricity pole.
The pickup had another occupant, a man who claims to be Bascom’s brother. Other eyewitnesses have said that the survivor jumped out of the vehicle before it hit the pole.
When the News Room arrived on the scene, the area was cordoned off by the police and an ambulance was on the scene. The survivor was being attended to by the medics on scene.
A team from the Guyana Power and Light arrived on the scene to replace the electricity pole.
