Two dead in Montrose accident
Two teenagers were killed and three others were injured Sunday night following a three-vehicular accident on the Montrose, Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The dead men have been identified as Michael Pierre of Lot 1102 Hope South, Enmore, ECD and Daniel Durant of Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown. Both victims were 19-years-old.
The accident occurred around 22:45hrs.
At the time, Pierre was the driver of motor car PYY 9392 while Durant was an occupant.
Police Headquarters said investigations revealed that the teenagers were speeding west along the southern carriageway and while negotiating a right bend on the road, Pierre lost control of his vehicle.
As a result, the car ended up on the northern carriageway and into the path of two other cars – PAC 2396 and PAC 734 – which were both proceeding in the opposite direction.
The cars were driven by Mahendra Nandkishore, a 33-year-old resident of Success, ECD and John Moore, a 29-year-old of Blairmont, West Coast Berbice.
Twenty-six-year-old Renison Adams of Ithaca Village, WCB was an occupant of Moore’s car.
As a result of the collision, all three drivers and occupants were picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Pierrre and Durant were pronounced dead while Nandkishore, Moore and Adams are receiving medical attention.
Investigations are ongoing.
