Nearly 400 lbs of ganja worth $54M found at No. 51 Village


The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) on Tuesday found several bags containing 180.6 kilogrammes (or 398.2 pounds) of cannabis during an operation at the N0. 51 Village, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne).

A press release from CANU noted that the bags were taken to its Skeldon, Berbice, office where the drugs tested positive for cannabis.

This large amount of cannabis has a street value of about $54.1 million. Two persons were arrested and are in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
