The News Room’s Vishani Ragobeer and Shatanand Anude won an award for the Advancement of Media and Information Literacy (Television) on Tuesday night at the Caribbean Broadcasting Union’s 2022 Caribbean Media Awards.

The award ceremony was held in Antigua and Barbuda and media outlets from across the Caribbean were recognised.

The winning entry produced by Ragobeer and Anude was an explainer piece on Guyana’s new carbon credits venture with the Hess Corporation.

The entry is titled: “Guyana Made History By Earning Billions From Special Carbon Credits But What Does that Mean?”

Several pieces produced by the News Room team Danielle Swain, Avenash Ramzan, Yusuf Ali, Avidesh Narine, Shaconeil Burnette, Richard Bhainie and Richard Jagdeo were also nominated in several categories.

Guyanese Journalist David Papannah was also awarded the Best Climate Change Investigative Report (Digital). His story – titled ‘The Climate Test of Guyana’s Mangroves’- was published by the Caribbean Investigative Journalism Network (CIJN).
