Canal driver, 29, stabbed to death

A 29-year-old driver succumbed on Saturday night after he was fatally stabbed during a confrontation at his Canal No. 2, West Bank Demerara (WBD) house.

Dead is Bharrat Gendalall called ‘Premash’ of Clay Brick Road.

Reports are that the incident occurred at about 19:45 hrs shortly after Gendalall returned home from work.

The News Room understands that Police are on the hunt for six suspects.

According to information reaching the News Room, upon returning home from work, Gendalall stopped in front of his house and was talking with some friends.

Sometime after, he went to urinate across the road from his house when a car, driven by an identifiable suspect, approached with a bright light and stopped.

The News Room understands that the driver exited the car and an argument ensued between him and Gendalall during which Gendalall cuffed him.

The suspect then entered his car and drove away.

Gendalall subsequently went into his yard but the car returned and stopped in front of his house. This time, six men came out, five of whom were masked.

It is alleged that they invaded the victim’s yard and attacked him during which he was stabbed to his left upper chest.

Gendalall collapsed and the suspects escaped.

An alarm was raised and Gendalall was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he succumbed while receiving medical attention.

His body is at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
