Twenty-seven-year-old Reshma Persaud and her husband Andrew Chisholm are seeking the public’s help to rebuild their Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara house which collapsed during heavy rain and winds on Saturday night.
During a telephone interview with the News Room, Persaud related that she, her husband, and their two children, ages 3 and 11 months old were at her father’s place at Parika, East Bank Essequibo when the incident occurred.
Persaud said she received a telephone call from a relative at around 22:00 hrs that their Cottage Mahaicony house had collapsed.
Due to the distance, Persaud said she travelled home on Sunday morning.
“The house just fall flat on the ground and everything just damage… I had fridge, the washing machine, everything just damage. All the TV and so,” she told the News Room.
According to Persaud, she and her husband cannot afford to rebuild at the moment.
As such, they are pleading with the public to assistance them in any way possible.
“We in a lil debt so we can’t manage to build back right away…My husband is on the road right now looking for any kind of help,” Persaud said.
The family is staying with relatives until they can rebuild.
