Sparandaam couple remanded for narcotics possession

Kevin Archer, 31, and his wife, Carletta Sutton were on Monday remanded to prison after they were jointly charged for allegedly having two pounds of marijuana in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The couple who resides at Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara appeared before Magistrate Rochelle Liverpool at the Sparandaam Magistrate’s Court.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge and was refused bail.

The case was adjourned to September 07 for disclosure.

Archer and Sutton were arrested by the Police on August 19 after several parcels of marijuana were found in their kitchen.

The discovery was made between 06:00hrs and 07:00hrs as ranks were carrying out a raid exercise for guns, drugs, ammunition and for wanted persons in the communities of Plaisance, Better Hope and Vryheid’s Lust, ECD.
