Four teenagers died in an accident early Sunday morning after the vehicle they were in collided with a parked truck and a concrete fence at Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara (WBD), Region Three.

Those dead are: Daveanand Singh, 17, of Providence, East Bank Demerara; Amiesha Jaikaran, 19, of La Grange Old Road, WBD; Divyanie Narine, 18, of Kitty, Georgetown; and Daniel Tirbeni, 19, of La Grange.

Singh was the driver of motor car (#PAE 5773) that was involved in the accident, the three others were occupants.

Police Headquarters reported that the car, which is owned by Marvis Bankay Singh, was proceeding east along the northern side of the Resource Public Road at Canal #2 Polder at about 01:30 hrs Sunday.

Singh was reportedly speeding and lost control of the car; he crashed into the rear of a motor lorry (#GTT 6960) that was parked on the parapet. As a result of the initial collision, the vehicle then collided with a concrete fence on the northern side of the road.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants died at the scene. Meanwhile, Singh and other occupant were taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious condition; they eventually died while receiving medical attention.

The bodies were taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting autopsies.

    Further investigations are in progress.
