A two-vehicle collision on Wednesday along Dennis Street, Sophia, Georgetown, has resulted in the death of 10-month-old Zainad Boyer.
The accident occurred at about 14:20 hrs; according to Police Headquarters, the infant’s father, 26-year-old Khary Boyer was reportedly speeding when he collided with a hire car being driven by 28-year-old Keyimo Roopnarine.
The infant and two others – Gerda Boyer-Singh, 38 and a five-year-old were in Khary’s car. Gerda and the baby were in the front passenger seat of the car.
It is alleged that while Khary was driving in the vicinity of the Juvenile Holding Center, he lost control, swerved right and ended up on the northern drive lane into the path of the other car.
This resulted in a head-on collision where both vehicles were extensively damaged.
Police said both drivers and the two occupants received injuries and are receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Unfortunately, little Zainab succumbed to the injuries while receiving treatment. The body is at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the accident is being reviewed by investigators while both drivers were served with Notice of Intended Prosecution
