Three men are in custody after being found with 450 grams (15 ounces) of cannabis in a house at Friendship, East Bank Demerara during a Police operation.

Police Headquarters reported that a team of ranks, led by a Corporal, acted on intelligence, and visited the house where contact was made with 56-year-old Richard Charles who claimed to be the owner.

The ranks then requested to conduct a search on the premises and according to the Police, Charles agreed.

It is alleged that the ranks entered and found two other men who identified themselves as John D’Ornellas, a 28-year-old vendor of Block X Diamond Housing Scheme, EBD, and Jerome Bernard, a 42-year-old labourer of ‘C’ Field, South Sophia.

The ranks then proceeded to search the house, during which they discovered a bulky transparent parcel containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis in a bedroom, under the bed.

“The three men were then told of the offence and cautioned, during which the 56-year-old homeowner claimed that the 28-year-old and 42-year-old men were occupying the said bedroom,” the Police report noted.

They were all arrested and escorted to the Diamond Police Station, where the Cannabis was weighed and amounted to 450 grams. Further investigations are ongoing.
